The Assumptions We Make:
Last week I was both surprised and somewhat indignant that a young man who lives in my building looked straight at me, unlocked the front door and let it close behind him while I was walking toward the door. I complained to one of my neighbors who said that was obviously rude. Then we ruminated on how thoughtless this younger generation seems to be.
Well, a week later I saw the same young man who, to my surprise and shock was feeling his way along with a walking stick because he’s totally blind!!
We’re never too old to learn and relearn lessons. Remember the old saying, “don’t judge a book by it’s cover?” We’re all so sure we know the truth, that what we see is what happened, that what we heard is accurate, that we are right and others are wrong. Well, I was wrong. I was blind.
